Arthrities and Osteoporosis

Many people with arthritis and Osteoporosis don’t exercise because they are worried it will increase their pain, or they are unsure what type of exercise to do. But exercise can have enormous benefits, including better joint mobility, stronger muscles and bones, improved energy levels and general wellbeing and a number of independent organizations all agree.

The National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence targets exercise as a ‘key priority’. They state “exercise should be a core treatment for people with osteoarthritis, irrespective of age, paid severity or disability”.
“Exercise is the most effective non drug treatment to reduce pain and improve movement” www.arthritis.org

The Royal College of Physicians recently published a working party report entitled “The Management of Men and Women over 45 years who have risk of Osteoporosis” and recommends regular weight bearing exercise.

At JJ Fitness & Wellbeing we recognize that many people do not know where to start and therefore we have personal trainers that have attained additional qualifications with Lifetime Dynamic Training to train clients with Arthritis and Osteoporosis.
